The Gift You’d Never Think of Giving – Guest Post by Mathews McGarry

The Gift You’d Never Think of Giving

Finding the right gift for someone you don’t really know that well can be really hectic. You spend time trying to think of the perfect gift and when something interesting pops in your mind – you just can’t imagine a truly positive reaction on the face of the one receiving it. Usually, people just ask – what do you want me to get you for your birthday/Christmas/anniversary? They want to spare themselves the thinking and effort.

However, what if there’s not enough time and you have to make a last-minute decision? If keeping it authentic and original is your thing, then the only option is finding something unusual that will be of some use, but interesting enough to surprise people dear to you, and bring a smile to their faces. Here are some interesting gifts that you’d never think of giving.

Bubble Wrap Costume

The number one gift idea that will work like a charm, because I’ve never met someone who didn’t find popping bubble wraps satisfying. Now, imagine you have a whole wearable costume made of bubble wrap? According to a study published in “Psychological Reports”, keeping your hands busy with small projects has a calming effect in stressful situations because it gives us a moment to think and decide what to do. Ultimately, we may just find it interesting to hear those tiny popping sounds. The costume consists of a hooded jacket and a pair of trousers, all covered in small air pockets. They won’t be able to keep their hands to themselves and the stress will just melt away.

Moguard

“Milk is for babies. When you grow up you have to drink beer.” If the mighty Arnold Schwarzenegger said it, who are we to argue? Beer has been a popular alcoholic beverage for centuries now, so buying someone a moguard is a logical gift choice. It solves the problem of beer suds soaking your neatly groomed mustache. Even if you don’t have a mustache, you may find the whole situation simply unpleasant. Moguard is designed for your protection.

R2-D2 Desktop Vacuum

Even if you’re not a die-hard fan of the Star Wars franchise, you probably know who R2-D2 is. On the other hand, we all spend time in front of the computer, working or just aimlessly browsing for interesting and funny stuff. Someone thought of a great idea – creating a small desktop vacuum in the shape of the famous astromech droid. It is best used for small cleaning jobs (pencil shavings and small crumbs).

Reflective Clothing Tape

Reflective tape is a gift suitable for those who practice nighttime activities. For example, if they like to run, hike, or simply walk their dog at night, placing a reflective clothing tape on their trousers, shorts, coats, jackets, or t-shirts will ensure that they will be seen at all times. Perhaps you can give it along with the moguard. They will need it after a nightlong beer drinking spree.

Custom Song

If you’re creative enough in a musical sense and know your way with rhymes, you can write a song or rewrite a famous one in a humorous way. Presenting someone with a custom song written just for them is a thing they wouldn’t expect. If you have enough time and inspiration, you can perhaps put together a special custom songbook or an album with a custom-designed cover.

Self-Stirring Coffee Mug

Stirring coffee – one of the most strenuous task known to mankind. However, man always finds a way to overcome struggles and annoyances. Here we present a coffee mug in the shape of a camera lens that stirs your caffeinated and other drinks that require stirring. Lazy people always find the way to optimize and automate all the boring daily repetitive processes.

Don’t opt for good old boring picture frames or non-automated coffee mugs, because the risk of having the gift re-gifted sometime in the future will undoubtedly increase. These gifts are interesting, unique, practical, and extraordinary enough to find their place in the lives of your loved ones.
